INSULATE BRITAIN BLOCKS M25 FOR A FIFTH TIME AS NEW PEOPLE JOIN THE CAMPAIGN
21 September 2021
Early this morning, Insulate Britain blocked the M25 for a fifth time. New people have joined the protest along with some who have participated in all five actions to date.
People blocked both carriageways of the M25 at J10 and blue paint was poured onto the road.
We have seen no evidence that the cause of Insulating Britain has been set back, as suggested yesterday by the Prime Minister. Due to Insulate Britain’s actions the plan to insulate the nation's homes has entered the national debate. The recent extreme rise in gas and electricity costs has increased the urgency of Insulate Britain’s demands. Boris, get on with the job!
Spokesperson Liam Norton said:
“The idea that people would suddenly decide insulating our leaky homes is a bad idea as a result of our campaign is frankly laughable. We are simply asking the government to get on with the job.
“The people of Britain understand that climate change is a severe threat to everything they hold dear. They are looking to the government for leadership. We have a practical solution and have received encouragement for our aims from many construction industry professionals. ”
Dr Diana Warner retired GP, from Gloucestershire said:
“Insulating homes is such a necessary action right now, for health, economy and climate. All our homes. Only the government can get that done. Boris just needs to get on with it. This is a practical way to start to level up Britain. No words, we need action and results.”
Yesterday, Insulate Britain wrote to the Home Secretary but has received no response. We are asking for the government to commit to insulate all of Britain’s 29 million leaky homes by 2030, and all social housing by 2025. As soon as we hear a meaningful commitment that we can trust, we will end the campaign.

About Insulate Britain
Insulate Britain is a new campaign group that is calling on the UK government to put in place policy and funding for a national home insulation programme starting with all social housing.
We demand the Prime Minister and the government to #getonwiththejob, face up to their responsibility and lead our country through the climate crisis.
We are ordinary British citizens with simple and achievable demands to #INSULATEBRITAIN
The UK government must immediately promise to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation of all social housing in Britain
We demand a national home insulation strategy that gives British people the justice they deserve: a future for our loved ones, lower energy bills and safer living conditions
We are scared: our livelihoods are at risk and the futures of our children are uncertain
The Climate Crisis is a threat to all: we demand the government to act now
1. That the UK government immediately promises to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025;
2. That the UK government immediately promises to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and take responsibility for the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit , with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030 as part of a just transition to full decarbonisation of all parts of society and the economy.
